If you cannot do great things, do small things with greatness. Napoleon Hill
In Avignon, the young Raphaël André grew up with pop culture and was inspired by it to escape boredom through drawing. After studying art, he sets up his own business as a professional. The meeting with his photographer wife and a trip to Florence marked a turning point in his life and creativity. He quickly realized his first sales and exhibitions, then participated in two biennials of the Pays d'Aix and a group exhibition "Les Amis des Arts". Today, at the age of 25, Raphaël lives in Aix en Provence and appreciates that people are more interested in his works than in their author.
The artist never plans his sessions and often works at night, in the quiet and accompanied by music. After long reflections, he makes his first tests on computer before moving on to painting. Once his project is finalized, there is no more improvisation. In his works, both modern and classical, he uses photography as a background and then, with stencils, superimposes acrylic. Very personal, without a precise message, and sometimes cleaving, his sculptural canvases are inspired by religious representations and the Italian renaissance in its baroque period. Like his favorite painter, Caravaggio, he emphasizes his subjects by using light and shade, which he reproduces in the color contrasts between his line and the background. With his art, Raphael seeks to evoke an emotion in the public, not to explain it.
