Fascinated by the role of unforeseen events in the creative process, I find inspiration in the natural patterns found on rough walls.
Attracted by painting since childhood, Carol grew up surrounded by her illustrator father’s colourful posters. As a young girl she was amazed by a visit to the Sargadelos ceramic factory. The feeling of finding herself for the first time in the magic of an artist's studio left a lasting impression. She began studying philology while working in the afternoons in a painter’s studio. But life gradually pulled her away from her original purpose, and after graduation she began a career in publishing. Driven by a compelling need to create, she resumed her studies and took courses in graphic design and painting at the Massana School and illustration at the Eina School. She participated in numerous publications and exhibited for the first time in 2002.
Carol's artistic influences are many and varied. The Spanish artist appreciates expressionism, abstraction, the Dada movement, Art Brut but also oriental art and primitive art. She feels a great admiration for Antoni Tapies (Spanish artist, twentieth – twenty-first centuries), Zao Wou-ki (Chinese-French painter) and Jean Dubuffet (French artist, twentieth century). Carol works with various techniques (ink, plaster, charcoal, acrylic, pigments) on different media (paper, wood, canvas). While landscapes are her favourite subject, she does not seek to represent reality accurately. She uses photography not as a model to replicate, but as a way to create a composition. Between figuration and abstraction, her intriguing paintings intend to provoke emotion.
