How would it look if it was made of paint?
An outsider born in Bristol, UK, John Macnab discovered his passion for nature and his desire to represent it in his youth. As he grew up, he immersed himself in drawing, and art books revealed to him his sensitivity to impressionism. At the age of 25, he joined a rock band in the United States and since then, he has been dividing his life between his two favorite arts: painting and music. The great outdoors and animals are his favorite themes and it is near Sedona, Arizona that he draws his inspiration the most. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Alberta Street Gallery in Portland.
John's primary desire in painting is to share his passion for the environment and to transport his audience into this wonderful and fascinating world. It is naturally during his numerous excursions that he identifies the themes of his works and begins his work with photos and preparatory sketches. On his canvases, the artist looks for lively and vibrant color schemes. He then handles them carefully to draw the essence of his subjects and bring them to the fore. Balance and harmony are at the heart of his artistic thinking. When he creates, he mainly uses palette knives to mix and apply the paint, thus obtaining a different texture than with the sole use of a classic brush. His creations find in each one a personal and unique meaning and this is still what inspires him the most in his daily life.
