A famous sentence by the writer Honoré de Balzac that demonstrates my approach: "The aim of art us not to copy nature, but to express it!"
A faithful drawer and painter since his childhood, Yves had a revelation when he discovered the painting entitled "The Lane of Poplars at Moret-sur-Loing" by the English impressionist painter Alfred Sisley (1839-1889) at the Museum of Fine Arts in Nice aged 25. He then decided to carry out several work placements with regional painter artists and followed private lessons with a fine arts teacher in the city for two years. Having set up home in a small village in the Hautes-Pyrénées, near Lourdes, this passionate man, now retired, has painted almost every day for ten years.
Executed on location or interpreted from photographs, using a mixture of extra-fine and medium acrylics, the subjects produced almost systematically come back to the natural environment and its varied and fleeting charms, in which Yves continually finds pleasure during his long and frequent hikes. An admirer of works by Camille Pissarro (1830-1903) and Claude Monet (1840-1926), he strives to reach the soul of his motif, all the while remaining in the figurative painting field. Through the production of his urban and rustic landscapes, Yves expresses himself open-heartedly, and it is with the practice of this delicate task, which consists of taking into account the diversity of tones and light that he has the pleasure of admiring, that the painter wishes to share the feeling of well-being with his audience.
