There is always a patch of blue sky for whoever wants it and behind every cloud hides the sky.
Al Freno is a Belgian painter, originally from Cambrai. As a child, he was already passionate about drawing, which he practiced from an early age. He remembers being fascinated, as a teenager, by the work of great masters of art such as Dali and Picasso. He thus naturally entered the Dunkirk School of Fine Arts, where he learned to master the techniques of light and shadow as well as perspective. Al Freno then left art aside for about twenty years, during which he traveled a lot. He visited many countries and became fascinated by the blue, the sea, the paradisiacal villas and the swimming pools, all of which can be found in his work today.
The painter works exclusively with oil paint, on canvas, which he mixes with the medium liquin. In shades of blue, the works of Al Freno call for travel and escape. They are inspired by the fabulous landscapes he has admired during his travels and recall the creations of Hockney or Hopper. Minimalist, Al Freno's paintings transmit what his heart dictates to him and are intended to make the spectator travel, to incite him to dive, in a way, into the canvas. He represents pools, villas and other seaside and idyllic landscapes, where one systematically finds water or the sea.
