A single master-word summarises the entirety: emotion.
For many artists, creation cannot be controlled, it is essential. Resident of Besançon Philippe Dias was 6 years old when he knew “he wanted to draw and do it as his job”. For this admirer of Pasqua, Combs and Dave White, painting came to him much later, because it was in 2009 that he bought his first canvas to teach himself through the portrait of a bull, that was sold at his first exhibition, with mixed emotions for the painter; “happy” that he had made his first sale and “sad” at the idea of separating from his first work. In the meantime, his regrets have passed and his palette has become denser.
Through Philippe's favorite subjects, fantastic (Star Wars, Marvel, etc.) or animal, and his portraits, one feels an underlying power that rubs shoulders with the delicacy of the look and the desire to bear witness to what one day may no longer be. He paints most of the time with acrylics but does not hesitate to mix his paint with ballpoint pen, chalk or India ink or even felt pens. If the maturation of the subject is often long, the execution is fast for this portraitist "who drifted towards the movement", and paints in music. After a classical introduction to the subject with pencil, the first layer, generally drawn with fluorescent, gives the direction of the light to finish with a happy mixture chosen instinctively.
