I breathed in the landscape and now I hold my breath to draw. Paul Claudel
Provençal at heart, Stéphane is a sensitive Vaucluse artist deeply attached to the landscapes of his region. After having tried various techniques, it is finally with watercolor that he finds his way in the early 90s. In a very figurative style, he depicts with finesse and precision the beauty of nature and the environments that surround him. Since 2015, his audience is growing while he multiplies exhibitions in France and Italy. Today, Stéphane is moving towards more personal and complex works, all in simplicity of forms and harmony of colors.
A painter and walker touched by nature, Stéphane likes to escape and observe it, as much in search of subjects as of wonder. In the midst of simple and colorful landscapes, almost abstract, he stirs our imagination by illustrating more clearly a specific element such as a tree, an island, a hut or a rock. Fascinated by watercolor, the artist enjoys seeking control in this chaotic alchemy between water and paint. By adding pure pigments, he strengthens his tints and plays with opacity, contrasts and textures. Initially inspired by Didier Brousse, another artist from the Vaucluse, he has been looking at other styles over the course of his exhibitions, and now enjoys testing new techniques. With his contemplative works full of emotions, Stéphane succeeds with talent in doing justice to the beauty and diversity of nature and the world around us.
