I work on each of my paintings like a window open to a dream, sweetness, peace, magic, childhood and all its purity...
When, as a young girl, Nathalie Sabourn, who had always wanted to be a painter, saw a painter making a painting with watercolours on the seafront of Royan, she decided to fulfil her desire to become an artist. She began to exhibit her work very quickly, at the same time as she completed her training in management, recreating in each painting the miracle of something becoming a work of art in front of her very eyes. Nathalie paints Provence, where she spent her childhood, as well as Poitou Charentes and Brittany, skilfully capturing the essence of these regions. A wall made of old rocks, a small hamlet, a hidden creek, are all scenes that she reinvents in her exhilarating works. She is a passionate traveller and thinks of each one of her painting as an invitation, a window open to a world full of joy and serenity.
Nathalie's approach, greatly influenced by Impressionists, led her to use watercolour and oil paint and pushed her to become more and more free from the diktat of description. Over the years, her paintings grew richer in textures and colours and acquired an identity that can be recognized anywhere. She enjoys sculpting the textures with a knife and the pure colours, which she applies with great skill, give life to flamboyant landscapes. She remains loyal to her inspirations and seeks, above all, to create a sensation. She wishes to ignite a feeling of well being in the viewer. Her warm canvases draw their inspiration from the small moments of everyday joy and in the details that make up the beauty of a familiar landscape.
