Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness
Since he was very young, Jérôme Poumès has been developing his universe through painting and drawing, and he escapes for several hours a day. Originally from Bayonne, he first studied in prestigious art schools in Paris and then became an art director in communication. Far from the tumult and rivalries that punctuate his professional life, his passion frees him and brings him serenity and satisfaction. An anti-conformist at heart, Jérôme advocates the simple pleasure of creation beyond its objective, its purpose or its value. His work is known in France and abroad where he regularly exhibits.
Jérôme defines himself as an explorer of still unknown creative lands, with a sharp mind, and always curious about what surrounds him. A true "artist-researcher", he navigates between different currents such as figurative, abstract or certain forms of expressionism. Without technical borders, his painted and sculpted works respond to each other and enrich each other with coherence and continuity. Mainly realized in acrylic with a knife, his paintings give off a vibrant energy, reflecting his humble and passionate personality and echoing his own experience. The tones of his strokes full of nuances and contrasts highlight his fascinating work around light and the object. He draws his inspiration from human feelings but also from the depths of history and mythology or the beauty of urban or natural environments.
