Art is about suspending time on an emotion.
You don't have to pass the Beaux-arts to express yourself! That's what Stephanois Patrice Rochette realized when, as an adult, he decided to finally listen to his artistic sensibility. In 2009, he took up watercolour painting in evening classes and developed his passion for painting. Over the years, he tried his hand at other techniques, such as acrylics, before finally settling on oil paint. He then practiced and taught himself. Today, after fifteen years of practice, he still illustrates with talent the landscapes that fill him with wonder.
Passionate about hiking and traveling, Patrice transmits his attraction for the great urban and natural spaces. A keen observer, he captures in his paintings the original atmospheres and moods that emerge from a specific environment. In his works, a landscape or an ordinary panorama becomes an ephemeral snapshot rich in emotions, and sometimes in mysteries. Oil painting allows the artist to depict with accuracy the depth of the scenery: perspectives, reliefs, colors and contrasts. For texture and form, he uses knives, brushes and other objects as needed. Very attached to the importance of light, he emphasizes the chiaroscuro through the play of shadows and effects of transparency or thickness. Through his painting, Patrice reflects a more singular vision of the world and thus encourages us to apprehend it differently.
