Watercolor painting is an art and skill of using pigments mixed with little water to paint. Since the development of this art many years ago, many techniques of different kinds have evolved as years went by because many people kept practicing it for its fun and beauty. paints made from watercolors are made of many pigments and when you connect the translucent watercolor and the reflection from the white paper by combining them, you create an amazing glow.
This skill is not the easiest to master however, with the perfect techniques and more practice, the skill can be of great reward when sold out. In this article, are five tips to help you improve your skills in watercolor painting and in addition, give you lessons on how to create an amazing watercolor landscape.

1. 5 important watercolor techniques.

Everybody in the painting industry wants to be a master in painting, with this guide, you will be able to improve your painting only if you follow them keenly. They include;

1. Have a wide variety of brushes. When speaking of painting using watercolors, it is important that you fully equip yourself with a variety of brushes. Choosing a brush depends on the size of the painting you are about paint.
For beginners, you probably don’t have a favourite brush that you are accustomed to. You are advised to start with different brushes to look for those that work best for you. You’ll also require a few small brushes that are used for adding little details that were not expected.

2. Have a paint. It’s always the right decision when wanting to invest in good watercolors with value because quality paints will definitely show a difference in taking your work to the next level. Standard paints have a tendency of lasting longer as compared to other degraded paints that change their color over a certain period. Since a lot of companies sell paints that are of quality, you are advised to purchase different paints from different brands to get a full understanding of what pain you want and how it works.

3. Know the difference between wet and dry. Knowing the difference between the two factors is important in painting using watercolors. As the name watercolor suggests, it is mainly based on using water. Depending on the amount of water you add, you can make changes to the darkness or how strong the pigment will saturate.
Many ways to paint using watercolors have been introduced and among them is the ability to work dry to wet which helps you accomplish more control of your art. As you keep on trying them, you end finding what works for you best.

4. Splash your watercolors. Using the splashy hand trick adds extra energy and beauty to your painting. Doing this trick is easier as you are only required to hold the brush between your middle finger and thumb. While using the index finger, smoothly pull the bristles back and let them automatically lie frontwards to avoid splashing more paint ending up spoiling the painting. A water spray is highly suggested for this trick.

5. Blend colors together.
The best way to perfectly blend colors is using a technique called ‘a blooming watercolor technique.
Add water to the dye in the brush and start applying it to the paper. After applying, wait for it to dry but not too dry as it should be wet. Still when wet, add another pigment with the exact water amount and create something special. Allow the mixture to dry and then note the difference.

2. How to paint a Watercolor landscape

Landscape watercolor painting is an art practised for decades. Even though landscape in watercolors are tricky and very delicate, they can still be attained by every artist including beginners. whether you paint a mountain range or a seascape, the watercolor landscape will sure transport the audience to the world of fantasy only if you adhere to the 4 steps mentioned below.

•    1. Have your supplies ready.

When painting a watercolor landscape, the usual first step having everything in place. Start by preparing your paper and the surface you’ll paint in. you should be in a comfortable position of your choice and then tape the paper down to prevent it from moving disturbing your concentration. Also in requirements that must be available include brushes, water, and paints. Watercolors gives you an opportunity to work in medium style for perfection because of their delicate nature. The key is having the correct balance between water and paint and knowing how to apply dark and light colors will make a positive impact on your landscape.

•    2. Have your design on a sketch.

Using another photo of a drawn watercolor landscape as your guide, try sketching the landscape using a pencil. For the beginners, the best way is to sketch a light drawing making sure that small details that were to appear in the bigger picture are made visible. Painting with watercolor can be delicate at times and as a result, you do not have to copy the entire picture from your guide. Draw a sketch without having to worry about the small details missing since how you interpret the painting is also an art.

•    3. Paint Large Elements.

Always start your drawing by painting the horizon using strokes from a big brush. Always have in mind the details of your painting, like where the sun should be, is it shinning or setting down depending on the art pictured in your mind. With the same large stroke brush, start painting the body of the picture mainly rivers and trees for a landscape. If your art is a scape of a city, the body mainly includes big buildings and connective roads.

•    4. Add the little Details.

After painting all large drawings, it is time to add small missing details but you are required to wait for the drying of the layer of point. Only after a complete drying is when you can clearly view the outcome of your first drawing.
Use a medium or small brush when adding the little details and then leave it to dry completely.

Final thoughts.

Not to discourage beginners from painting using watercolors, but to master the art of painting a watercolor landscape is difficult and needs a lot of skills and practice. Here, rooms to mistakes are highly not recommended, since with watercolors, it is nearly impossible to cover a mistake with another painting as done with other paintings like acrylics. A reference guide to an already drawn watercolor landscape picture is required to guide and give you an idea of what you wish to paint.
