It is imagination that gives the painting space and depth - Henri Matisses
Christine Collet is a self-taught artist whose inspiration comes from her many travels and encounters with diverse cultures. Fascinated by the traces of life left by time, she finds in old writings, ruins and the colors of the earth an inexhaustible source of creativity. Her works reflect a unique visual language, nourished by her personal experience and history. Christine creates canvases that capture the essence of humanity and objects that have survived the ages.
Christine Collet's inspiration lies in traces of the past, whether in old writings, desert landscapes or the facades of old houses. Using natural materials such as sand, earth and wood ash, she builds her structures with Troyes chalk, giving her works a rich, authentic texture. Her paintings are often adorned with pots, symbols of sharing and abundance, ladders representing connection and discovery, and graffiti evoking ancestral means of communication. Through her art, Christine seeks to preserve the memory of past generations, while reminding us of our common humanity.
