Salvador Dali called Paul Cézanne "the worst painter in France". This makes us take a step back from the critics.
From his childhood in Reunion Island to his artist's studio in the Vaucluse, Benja discovered his vocation along the way. Always inspired by his great-grandfather, an exceptional amateur painter, he was also interested in architecture and design from an early age. As an adult, he became passionate about the 7th art and made a career in documentary and advertising films. At the crossroads, he decided to unite his passions and express all his creativity by launching himself fully into painting. A new talent to follow, he quickly realized his first exhibition in Provence.
With a subtle alchemy between spontaneity and meticulousness, Benja's works capture our gaze in an instant. Curious, he likes to explore the unknown, discover new styles and sees each of his creations as his next challenge. On the canvas, the artist varies the techniques and handles oil paint, acrylic or charcoal, depending on his inspiration. Influenced by street art, abstract art, realism or impressionism, he is particularly passionate about the play of contrast. He admires the great virtuosos of light like John Singer Sargent or Edouard Cortès, as well as the contemporary Chirun Ilya or his friend Casey Baugh. With his aesthetic, peaceful and colorful universe, Benja invites us to daydream and awakens our imagination. Through his painting, he also hopes to share with us well-being and tranquility.
