I think my interest in art stems from my interest in people, societies and their issues.
Irfan, born in Istanbul, left his country for political reasons after the 1980 coup d'état. For almost 20 years, he travelled to new countries and discovered new cultures, passing through Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Lebanon, Syria and finally France.
Once settled in France, the artist devoted himself to his art, deeply inspired by people, societies and their issues. Through his imaginative and colorful portraits, he tries to reflect people and their moods.

Istanbul continues to occupy a major place in Irfan's heart and in his work. The city of his childhood serves as a constant source of inspiration. He draws on his memories, emotions and past experiences to create works that reflect his perception of Istanbul, in a chaos of colors. His art reflects his keen observation of the human being, exploring its many facets, from joy to sadness, from serenity to anguish. His figures seem to be caught in a moment of inner contemplation, offering viewers a glimpse into their complex inner selves.
