I want to instil in the viewer the hint of a smile, a glimmer of candour.
Elizabeth's favourite toys during her childhood in Beaupréau (Maine-et-Loire) were her brushes, palettes and tubes of gouache. She was passionate about art and creativity. As an adult she settled down in Paris and for a time focused on her family life and her job as head of communications. But at the age of 34, she returned to her passion and began to paint in parallel. This hobby quickly became a necessity and four years later Elisabeth decided to devote herself exclusively to this vocation. A desire for colour, imagination, poetry and innocence emerged in her life and painting became the key to a gay and fantastic world
Elisabeth art is fully situated in the Naïve Art movement, detailed by the intensity of the colours and the precision of the drawing. She creates instinctively and overcomes rules. She mainly uses oil paints, enjoying the flexibility of this medium; she can easily revisit her work. Colour holds a vital place in her paintings where warm, cheerful and pastel tones mix. Shapes are rounded and smooth and the characters and scenery are reflections of a world where sadness and darkness have no place. The artist feeds on memories, meetings, scenes from everyday life, and especially her dreams. She transcribes her sources of inspiration with purity and softness.
