It is in abstract art that I find the greatest energy and the greatest freedom.
Renewal is at the heart of Carole’s painting. Since her first pictorial essays, the artist has always endeavoured to improve her technique to render a very personal interpretation of light and matter. This form of expression allows her to translate colour into something intimate, all relating to her unique worldview. What she produces therefore to the viewer is fed with movement, key meetings and travel rich in learning. Since studying painting at the Fine Arts School in Rennes, Carole has participated in numerous exhibitions and group exhibitions in France and abroad. This Breton painter lived in the Dominican Republic for seven years before returning to her country of origin to set up her studio in La Baule (LoireAtlantique, France) in 2011. In this creative space, she combines unrestrained cultures and sensory experiences to suspend the inexorable march of time. In this way her art suggests awareness. It proposes the viewer to take a break and pay attention to the inner self that each of us holds.
Adept at oil painting, Carole works with brush and spatula. Through her art, she ventures without a net into arbitrariness. Abstraction offers her limitless possibilities to combine colours, textures and materials. Although she has been passionate about media for a long time, she now focuses her work on painting in its purest form. She no longer seeks to create effects. Her works are more refined, more subtle. The notion of purity is also essential to her. Under her actions, chance takes shape, the vacuum is filled. Imaginary landscapes emerge from nothing to become substance on the canvas. Much more than random, Carole’s visions are always poetic. They are open to a wide freedom of interpretation.
