Description artwork
"Le passage magenta" is a painting by Corinne Malfreyt from the series "Le Sacre après Pina": a woman holds out a scarf to two others who are running.
The artist is inspired by movement and dance. This is what art critic Piero Cavalleri wrote about this series:
"For Corinne Malfreyt, inspired by Pina BAUSCH's choreography "The Rite of Spring" by Igor STRAVINSKY, the space between the bodies is still dance. On her canvases, she installs an architecture of rhythms and chromatic nuances, a declension of gray sometimes punctuated by resonant reds, where the dancers' momentum seeks and finds its place. Correspondence of background and form, to render the emotion felt, the colored matter, within the suggested limits of the drawing, dances, palpitates and vibrates in harmonic cadences, in fragile equilibrium, the instant of the composition.(...)
The artist applies sand to the canvas, then paints with an oil palette knife to create a highly material rendering.
