Dan was born and raised in the city of Mar del Plata, Argentina. He studied graphic design in art school where he met his future wife, Julia Sisi. But the classical education seemed too simplistic for the two young artists. They dreamed of freedom. Together, they dropped out in search of a pure artistic language, detached from any theoretical or aesthetic influence. They abandoned themselves to painting instinctively, following the path traced by the artists of the Art Brut (Outsider Art) movement (Jean Dubuffet). In 1981, fleeing the dictatorial regime of their country, they moved to Barcelona where they worked in antiques for a while. Dan salvaged scraps of restored wood furniture to make sculptures. In 2003, they left the continent to move to El Hierro, a small volcanic island in the Canary Islands, where they established their home workshop. Since 2006, they have participated in many exhibitions around the world. Isolated without being reclusive, they are members of Who-Ha-Da-Da Outsider Art Group and NeoOutsiders, the international group of artists.
