Life is a vast adventure, and the sooner we realize this, the sooner we can make it a work of art. Maya Angelou
A child of the Alps, Lucie spent her youth drawing and building huts. As she grew up, she combined her passions with a degree in architecture specializing in the environment and land use. A committed activist, she travels the globe and joins the crew of a Sea Shepherd ship for a time. Through her travels, the artist discovers how to express through drawing all the beauty of a nature that is both fragile and lush. For Lucie, art carries a message, and with her sensitivity she hopes to arouse curiosity, openness to the world and to differences.
Lucie loves nature and it is omnipresent in her work. Her drawings, very ornamental, are inspired by art nouveau but also by Ottoman and Hindu motifs or Japanese prints. She is also passionate about literature, cinema, architecture, yoga and cartography. When she creates, the artist first sketches a draft, and then lets her intuition take over. On paper, with fine blue or black pens, she starts with small details, often realistic. Then, as her composition progresses, she plays with scales, frames and intermingles elements and planes. Finally, as a call to poetry, she obtains an intricate and surrealist rendering where one can lose one's eyes. Beyond transmitting a message, Lucie hopes through her creations to invite her audience to travel and awaken their imagination.
