By its immensity, the sea allows an infinite escape, towards dreams, travel, far from the complexity of today's world.
Marie-Ange began her career as a school teacher before she delved into the world of painting, at the Vaison-la-Romaine artistic association, "Arts ô Soleil". Since then, she has dedicated herself completely to art. A notary by profession, Fanny was immersed in a creative universe since she was very young. Her mother fostered her desire to venture deeper into this universe.
Trained in an art workshop in Chalon-sur-Saône, Marie-Ange taught everything she knew to her daughter, so that she too could experience the same joy she did when she practiced her art. Over time, owing to their proximity and shared passion, their technical and stylistic approaches became similar to each other. And from this union of a mother’s passion and the burgeoning interest of her daughter was born a rich and beautiful bond, which created a unique style that they like to share and perfect together every day.

Starting their initial joint exhibitions in 2014, Marie-Ange and Fanny Roussel now create their works, at times alone, at times together, ceaselessly sharing their experiences and techniques. Working together on creating oil paints using painting knives, they work with a relatively abstract shared artistic approach, which however, does reveal a few figurative elements - sort of punctuations in the vastness of the horizon which they attempt to transpose.
Drawing their inspiration from the works of the French painter of Russian origin, Nicolas de Staël (1914-1955), who they particularly admire, these “pure seascapes” represent their personal emotions and sensitivities in colour.
