The painter should not do what he sees but what he wants to be seen.\n
Pierre DESSEIN was drawn to art and design from an early age. He had a passion for graphic novels too and began drawing caricatures and cartoons. He produced sketches for a leading regional newspaper when he was 18. He painted watercolours at the same time and fell in love with figurative oil painting. Painting became more and more important to Pierre DESSEIN and he moved from figurative art to lyrical abstraction. He spent years exhibiting his work in galleries all over France and took part in countless events to showcase his work.\n
He spent a long time working on caricatures and cartoons but Pierre DESSEIN now explores figurative and abstract art. His oil on canvas pieces are inspired by artists such as Zao Wou-Ki and Christian Hook. The artist uses material and colour to play with perspectives and light to capture the audience's attention. His figurative pieces often depict landscapes or faces. Pierre DESSEIN describes his work as a good piece of music. He paints appealing spots, interesting lines and keeps his audience guessing with technique and colour.\n
