My sacred "Surfaces Sensibles" animals are an ode to imperfection.
A true explorer of ancestral Japanese burnt-wood techniques (Shou Sugi Ban), I'm passionate about revealing the uniqueness of wood: bringing out its imperfections and highlighting them in all their raw beauty.
In a circular spirit, I conceive my creations by starting with a piece of wood, irregular, often discarded, to give it back its joyful uniqueness, to bring out its original luminosity through its flaws.
"As a healer of objects and an insatiable creator, I bring matter back to life by playing with light and shadow, black and gold, smooth and rough, simple and complex, necessary and superfluous."

The spirit of Wabi Sabi breathes through all my creations!

Here, this "ZÖ" elephant, a piece of solid chestnut from an ancient Ardèche timber frame over 400 years old, carved and burned, comes to offer the world the beauty of its imperfection. With touches of 18-carat gold leaf, I re-honor this ancient wood.
