Fonteyne David | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Fonteyne David
My way of painting is like a state of love, a hug, a big leap. Whatever the outcome, all that matters is the emotion it generates.
Introduced to the mysteries of color by his grandfather at an early age, David can't remember a single day of his life without painting. He sold his first canvases at the age of twelve, proud to carry on the family tradition. The artistic career of his forebears is indeed rich in distinctions. He gave free rein to his impulses, sweeping aside codes and celebrating his independence. Enthralled by the unlimited possibilities of creative work, he reveals his whole being in each of his canvases. Through his seascapes and landscapes, David invites the public to explore new territories.
Always fascinated by his grandfather's thick and tortured palette, he works exclusively in oil in tubes or pigment-based. His approach to the medium that he applies with a knife reveals sculpture. David's work is in the tradition of the Impressionists. The sensual texture characteristic of his technique inspires mixtures full of tenderness. Just like colour, this relief allows him to emphasize certain elements of his compositions. An instinctive strength comes from the rough and dense features. No details or frills come between his emotions, gestures and art. Committed and generous, his paintings are all open windows to the soul.
