A quote from Pablo Picasso: "I paint objects as I think them, not as I see them."
A graduate from the Civil Service at the age of twenty, Michèle held the position of treasury controller at the Ministry of Finance in Paris for more than thirty years. She has always been interested in artistic practice, and now she is retired, she finally feels the capacity to do it. Since then, Michèle has worked daily and with enthusiasm to develop her pictorial productions. Self-taught in her practice of painting, she has taken a technical course for four years at the University of Caen Basse-Normandy. Through a range of contrasting colors, Michèle expresses in her paintings "[her] thoughts, [her] dreams and [her] emotions".
Her abstract canvases, executed in acrylic using brushes, brushes, knives, cutters, combs and rollers, resonate like rhythmic lines printed on the canvas. Her work is crafted in monochrome or in a dense and restricted palette of boldly contrasting candid tones such as red, black and white. Triply inspired by the aesthetic universe of the French painter Pierre Soulages (born in 1919), the artistic research of the Italian painter and sculptor Lucio Fontana (1899-1968) - in particular his lacerations - and the work on interpretation of images by the master of Belgian surrealism, Rene Magritte (1898-1967), Michèle composes collections made of lines, fullness and emptiness, mounted in diptych or triptych, revealing all the materiality and the depth of her painting.
