"The function of art is to put more serenity in the world." Hans Scholl.
Aurélie Lafourcade was born in French Guiana, on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, a sign of destiny for this lover of the sea. After several years in Cayenne, she returned to France, then moved to Belgium at the age of 20. There, she studied fine arts and worked in an advertising agency as a graphic designer. Her desire to create returned to the surface, with the sea and oceans fueling her inspiration. Her life's journey takes her to the Var coast, where she can admire the blue she loves so much. Here, she exhibits for the first time and exchanges with her public.
To fulfill her creative impulse, Aurélie Lafourcade has opted for resin, whose malleability offers a palette of artistic possibilities. She uses colored resin that she places on the support before heating it to give the desired movement. Waves are born and color reveals all its depth. Elements or characters are sometimes added to this oceanic decor. Very concerned by ecological issues, the artist is involved with associations for the protection of marine fauna.
