The notion of transience that characterizes my work leaves the field open to feelings and imagination.
Graphic design, drawing, oil painting and acrylic painting: Tanja learned all of these pictorial disciplines as soon as she graduated from high school. In 1998, the Danish artist completed her technical background with six months of classes overseas, at the School of Visual Arts in New York. The following year, back on the old continent, she obtained a degree in graphic design at the Højer School of Design (Denmark). After working several years in graphic design, she decided in 2002 to branch off on her own and to devote more time to artistic creation. She exhibited throughout Denmark and began collaboration with the V58 gallery in Aarhus, the second largest city in the country.
Tanja's painting is essentially abstract. She works on paper, canvas and wood, combining different materials: acrylic, chalk, charcoal, ink, etc.. She sometimes combines abstraction with more concrete forms on themes evoking wildlife, cities and women. The Danish artist draws her inspiration from her everyday life: a light filtering through the urban environment, a natural shape or an unusual shade are all enough to stimulate her creativity. Tanja creates in her works a dialogue between shapes and colours that responds with imagination and sets the framework for a story. Her technique is based on the superposition of many thin layers. She strives in this way to give a certain depth to her large bright and pure backgrounds. This depth encourages the viewer to take part in the unfinished story it tells.
