Facing nature, a painter chooses his way of looking. I work on the impressions that reality leaves me, I draw inspiration from them while preserving my freedom.
Viviane focused her painting on the different landscapes of our planet, notably in Canada and Polynesia as well as the USA, before placing her paintbrushes and canvases on the edge of the Atlantic. Today she has installed her studio in the heart of the Guerande peninsula, where she lives surrounded by marine horizons, beaches of fine sand, salt marshes and savage dunes.
Viviane principally uses oil paints with very different tools, chosen depending on the effect she wishes to create. She loves to play with diluted colours and impasto and creates a marine dynamic in her works and the volume and the reliefs remind us of small, gushing waves.
Viviane likes to work very quickly! The essential ideas must be conveyed within a few hours. She begins to draw a rough sketch with large strokes of coloured ink that she then reworks using a knife, spalter brush, cloth and turpentine…
Her inspiration comes directly from her walks and her favourite themes are the ocean, shores and tides. Viviane adores large spaces that breathe silence, solitude, the light of the ocean. She often places her easel in the crux of a dune and lets herself be carried away by the atmosphere without attempting to recreate the visual reality. The most important thing (for her) is to communicate the emotion felt in the midst of this wild panorama.
