De Jong Marcel
"You have to ask a city to pose for you, as if you were painting a portrait"... I like to paint urban landscapes. I'm very inspired by the old Dutch painters of the "De Haagse school", such as Mesdag, Israëls and Maris.
A painter of Dutch origin, Marcel De Jong has always enjoyed painting and drawing. From cartoons to portraits of people and animals, Marcel De Jong has worked on a variety of subjects and themes from an early age, often inspired by his environment and urban landscapes. Although he studied at several art schools, it was above all by himself that the artist learned and trained. Now a freelance illustrator and designer, Marcel De Jong has worked for numerous companies. He has produced logos, business cards and other illustrations. A true art enthusiast, he enjoys drawing as much as painting!
Marcel De Jong has always felt inspired by Dutch painters, whose work he admires and observes. Naturally, the artist draws his inspiration from his surroundings, particularly the city of Amsterdam, whose romantic old buildings and their reflections on the water inspire him. To do this, he most often uses oil paint, one of his favorite mediums along with watercolor. The painter uses brush and knife techniques. After sketching a place, an atmosphere or people, he begins to work on the paint. The painter then takes refuge in his studio, where he continues his work until he considers his painting finished.
