"Painting is the art of expressing the invisible through the visible.
François' inspiration was born in the wonderful islands of Polynesia and Hawaii in the 80s. This native of the Drôme region, who fell in love with exotic landscapes, like Paul Gauguin who inspired him, first used acrylic paint before opting for oils. On his return to France, he exhibited his Pacific works in his home region. He began prospecting galleries in Provence and the Rhône-Alpes region, and met with success. In 2018, a gallery in San Diego, California, selected his work, but Covid unfortunately got in the way of this promising exhibition.
François is a craftsman of materials. His style is characterized by his meticulous use of color and texture. He creates several thin layers that he then sands down to give an eroded, time-worn effect. The shadows he likes to confront and the choice of colors support his desire to freeze time. Time and its passage are at the heart of François' spiritual life. This favorite theme is subliminally evoked in his works. Characters in motion, urban or rural landscapes are also a source of inspiration for this artist who is constantly in search of a profound aestheticism.
