Art will save the world - Dostoyevsky
Serge Gallardo, a graduate of the Beaux-Arts in Lyon, began by drawing for textiles and advertising before naturally turning to painting. He likes to paint moments in life, with a particular affection for the 50s, reflecting a joie de vivre that he finds altered today. Fascinated by portraits and scenes of life, he often paints women to feed his feminist streak. His works, characterized by saturated colors and red backgrounds, aim to bring joy and depth to the viewer.
Serge Gallardo mainly uses acrylics for his creations, often adding a red background to intensify the colors and give them greater depth. Inspired by artists such as Hockney, Sorolla and De Staël, he likes to explore different techniques and dare to use bright colors. His works are characterized by flat, saturated colors, avoiding a photographic look and favoring an expressive aesthetic. Serge paints scenes of life and portraits to capture authentic moments and convey positive emotion. His artistic approach seeks to bring joy and celebrate the beauty of everyday moments.
