The essential thing is to be moved, to love, to hope, to tremble and to live. Auguste Rodin
German contemporary artist Svenja grew up in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. As a child, she painted and drew her daily life and hopes like a diary. Attracted by artistic studies, she eventually decided to study Spanish and economics. Initially a project manager in a large company, maternity and then the Covid crisis revived her vocation and her desire for freedom. She returned to painting and trained in the arts. After working for a small graphic design agency, she started giving new life to her dreams and became a full-time artist.
Observant, creative and passionate, Svenja finds refuge in her painting, all nuance and poetry. With a style combining the softness of Impressionism and the sensitivity of Expressionism, she depicts abstract landscapes in warm, pleasant hues. On canvas, the artist uses the quick-drying properties of acrylic to play with light and contrast. She applies her colors with broad strokes while maintaining fluid transitions between tones, for the sky for example. An admirer of the works of Liebermann, Turner and Corinth, she is most inspired by the creative, visionary art of Van Gogh. She also appreciates the modern geometric approach of Sarah Gayle Carter. With her paintings, Svenja invites us to take a relaxing, colorful plunge into dreamlike nature, where only our hearts can explain to our eyes what they are seeing.
