Patricia Frida | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Patricia was born in Hermagor, Austria in 1964. She says that she was born an artist. The desire to create has always been a part of her. She was first a fashion photographer, but evolved in an environment that did not suit her. She found her role as mediator and the teamwork exhausting. She began to work independently in Paris in the 90s with her Nikon FE2, her favourite tool. The artist enjoys the feeling of freedom it gives her. She loves nudes and movement, but revels in portraits. She takes pleasure in revealing the inner beauty of her subjects and tries to capture the reflection of the soul. Therefore, she spends long hours in her darkroom. One day, while looking at the stack of failed photographs, she came up with the idea of using paint to transform the original images. Her move to New York a few years later was a milestone in her way of tackling her paintings.
