One can be a poet in all fields: it is enough that one is adventurous and that one goes to the discovery. (Apollinaire)
Like many children, Angelina Sorokopud spent her childhood painting and drawing before her passion dwindled and other things caught her eye. Until she stumbled upon an online sketching class when she was 13. That was all it took to relight the teenager's fire for art! So she got back into drawing and started out by depicting the world around her. She studied and improved her technique. Angelina devoted herself to design alongside school. She created the stage design for Oscar Wilde's The Canterville Ghost by the Russian community in Strasbourg and donated her paintings to the Elpis (hope) charity project for Ukrainian refugees in 2022.\n
While Angelina Sorokopud's work is close to realism, she is particularly inspired by romanticism and the mood associated with this artistic movement. In terms of realism, Angelina is fascinated by Edward Hopper. She is also influenced by the work of Tomi Ungerer and the films of Wes Anderson. The artist is inspired by what she sees in the street and in her daily life to create. Her paintings, navigating between dream and reality, are often the representation of a place, nature, the city or its inhabitants. She collects sketchbooks and photos, which serve as a basis for her creations, then goes directly to the assembly of colors and lights.
