Kikayou
The power of the imagination and of feelings, dreams, memories and work on the subconscious guide me.
Born in 1966 in the south of France, from very young Kikayou was passionate about drawing, painting and sculpture. Derived from graffiti and tag, he left on the road from city to city, unnamed stigmas forging his universe. Encounters, emotions drawn from the news and daily life made up the rest. The world that he has created from the Basque Country (where he lives with his large family) is cast in his image: teeming with energy and ideas but devoid of any pretensions. He paints there surrounded by his family and continues to create his whimsical universe in line with the conception of his life, and some ingredients... talent, imagination, feelings and relevance.
His work, inspired by Basquiat and Dali, Andy Warhol's Pop Art and Jacques Villeglé's collages, plunges us into an indescribable chaos, an ode to life full of promise, because it's the moment that must be lived to the full. The power of imagination and feelings, the urgency of creation, dreams, sleep, forgetting, memory, physical experimentation and work on the subconscious guide the artist in his quest for color and sensation. Her universe leads viewers along the path of their own questions, anxieties, excitements and obsessions. By rediscovering lost images, he recovers his memory and feels increasingly "alive". Light fixtures, collages, spray cans and stencils illustrate this whimsical universe in phase with the painter's conception of life.
