All art is an imitation of nature. Seneca
Of Polish origin, Ewa follows her diplomat father and arrives in Paris at the age of 8. In the midst of the Cold War, she grew up isolated and was not allowed to socialize with French children. Her father enjoyed drawing and she soon took up pencils and brushes. This budding passion allowed her to blossom and to escape her solitude. In the 80s, she moved with her family to Provence, where she still lives. Every summer since 2017, she exhibits in the small hamlet of Séguret, and her son Julien Rey, also a painter, perpetuates the family artistic fiber.
From her Provençal haven of peace in Pernes les Fontaines, Ewa now only depicts the nature that surrounds her and the magnificent landscapes of her region. The brightness and the lights of the South of France inspire and fascinate her: never during her numerous trips in her life does she remember having seen more magical ones. She admired impressionist painters such as Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro or Berthe Morisot and claimed their influence on her works. During her career, the artist tried several techniques but now expresses herself through acrylic painting with a knife. Her personal touch is that she applies a satin varnish finish on her canvases. Through her original creations devoid of any human presence, Ewa invites her audience to travel and reconnect with their environment and the nature that surrounds them.
