The important thing is the creation. Ben Vautier
Since childhood, Franck has been passionate about drawing, but his musical career put his art on hold for many years. At the approach of his 40th birthday, the artist takes up his pencils and brushes again. He devotes himself fully to it and becomes a professional in 2014. Curious and creative, Franck explores various arts and techniques, each new experience fueling his inspiration. In 2018, a Taiwanese gallery noticed his work at a trade show and has been exhibiting it ever since.
With his color chart based only on primary colors, we recognize Franck's style at first glance. Following the technique "Drawing with the right brain" of Betty Edwards, he paints his pictures upside down. This method, very well suited to portraits, allows him to free himself from any subjectivity and to focus on the colors and the touch. For the artist, the subject is only a call to mystery and a pretext for the play of light and shadow. Unceasingly creative, he essentially uses oil paint but, when necessary, also handles watercolor, Indian ink, acrylic, gouache or pastels. A lover of urban, floral and nocturnal settings, he appreciates the works of Cézanne, Caravaggio or John Singer Sargent. Always in search of diversity, Franck deplores that his peers often limit their art to a single medium or technique.
