Michèle Loussouarn is inspired by human physiognomy, which she observes and transcribes with remarkable precision. Her work on nudes and portraits is characterized by the use of varied colors and mixed techniques. She favors watercolor for small formats, and acrylic with inlays of matter for large formats. By applying successive layers of color, or by withdrawing color, she creates works of balance and contrast. The white areas of her paintings bring light and contrast, accentuating the presence of her subjects through tight framing.
