After growing up in his mother's glass studio, the sculptor met a former armourer with a passion for metal. That marked the start of his career. He makes 150-200 pieces a year and countless public and private commissions: the 2m high lion at reception at Le Vendôme Paris, the lights on the main staircase at Saint-Etienne Town Hall, fencing masks for the International Fencing Federation and more. His sculptures are also displayed in countless art galleries in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada and America.
Marseille-born Philippe BUIL brought his passion for metals, sculpture and invention together to bring his first pieces to life. After starting out in the metal industry, the Saint-Etienne-based artist naturally ventured into bronze and steel sculpture. He uses a unique technique called dripping to create unique, refined and metal lace sculptures. Philippe BUIL's favourite subject is the body but he also depicts animals and other themes. The artist has blended glass into some of his pieces since 2019 so he can explore light and colour.
