Born in Guaratinguetá, Brazil, in 1969, Sergio started painting at a very young age. With a talent for drawing, he began studying architecture and graduated in 1992 from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of São Paulo. Sergio became an architect, designer and illustrator and opened two successive workshops in Brazil, which acted as an architect's office, designer boutique and art gallery all in one. His paintings and drawings depict everyday objects. They meet as in a dialogue, fitting together into a poetic and dreamlike mingling that blends the notions of time and space. The lines intersect and interact to form shapes which often look familiar: a leaf, a bird, a guitar ... While admiring his paintings, the elements come alive as one's vision adapts. The artist places his audience in an intimate atmosphere in which he solicits personal reminiscences and collective memory, offering ""allegories of a world whose essence is not just a copy."" The artist depicts real or dreamed stories with simple forms in which we were all protagonists at one time. Architecture is never far from the painter. Indeed, although his subjects are natural and entertaining, the features are accurate and rigorous. The contrast between his ""amusing"" shapes with bright colours and the assurance of black lines gives his work a certain dynamic and according to the art curator Rachel Pagliocco, ""to even evoke the often difficult transition from infancy to adulthood."" Sergio also likes to slip characters with big eyes and childish allure into his paintings. They look at the viewer with a curious and playful air and seem to draw him into the canvas. Inspired by folklore, literature and daily life, Sergio Ramos tries to make the viewer reflect on the relationship between people and their environment. His creations encourage us to take a new look at the world around us.\n
