The horizon for food, I like to travel to paint and paint to travel.
It is with full sails that Philippe Viejo launches out in painting as in life. After attending art school, he spent a year in the Caribbean. At only 20 years old, he was awarded the Ingres prize in 1987 which propelled his career. He then directed a communication agency in Martinique and exhibited his work worldwide. Since his return to Montauban in 2005, the artist has not stopped creating and has received numerous awards. A traveler at heart, he then visited the Americas and Mexico where he shared his works. Since 2018, his paintings are regularly presented throughout France.
Philippe places the human being at the heart of his pictorial universe and his artistic approach. With a figurative style, he wishes to depict a reassuring vision in a chaotic and urban world. He transcribes on canvas, with sensitivity and poetry, the questions raised by a society that can both unveil and crush the most beautiful treasures of the globe. With the help of his brushes, he expresses his love for living beings whose destinies are, according to him, linked to that of man, in a whole to respect. The artist uses mainly acrylic on metal with resin but places the technique at the service of the intention and constantly seeks to make it evolve. Of Spanish origin, he is also an admirer of Picasso and his famous "Guernica". Portraits or landscapes, human or animal, his many travels feed his art and are transmitted to his public.
